Transform

Every object in a scene has a Transform. It's used to store and manipulate the position, rotation and scale of the object and store more information like mesh, materials, collider, light or camera. It also has parent and children, which construct object hierarchy in the scene.

Properties

Full list of properties of a transform

  • Name : Name of the transform.
    To change name:
    • Edit the value in Property Tab
  • Position : Position of the transform relative to the parent transform in X, Y, and Z coordinates.
    To change position:
    • Edit the value in Property Tab
    • Use Position Gizmo. See Gizmo
  • Rotation : Rotation of the transform relative to the parent transform's rotation around the X, Y, and Z axes, measured in degrees.
    To change rotation:
    • Edit the value in Property Tab
    • Use Rotation Gizmo. See Gizmo
  • Scale : Scale of the transform relative to the parent along X, Y, and Z axes. Value 1 is the original size.
    To change scale:
    • Edit the value in Property Tab
    • Use Scale Gizmo. See Gizmo
  • Hierarchy : Hierarchy of the current transform. (Hierarchy displays in Hierarchy Tab)
    To change hierarchy:
    • Drag Transform A to Transform B in Hierarchy Tab will change Transform A 's parent to Transform B
    • Drag Transform A to empty area in Hierarchy Tab will move Transform A to the root of current scene
