Transform


Every object in a scene has a Transform. It's used to store and manipulate the position, rotation and scale of the object and store more information like mesh, materials, collider, light or camera. It also has a parent and children, which construct object hierarchy in the scene.

Properties

Full list of properties of a transform

  • Name : Name of the transform. To change name, edit the value in Properties Tab

  • Position : Position of the transform relative to the parent transform in X, Y, and Z coordinates.
    To change position: Edit the value in Property Tab or the use Position Gizmo.

  • Rotation : Rotation of the transform relative to the parent transform's rotation around the X, Y, and Z axes, measured in degrees.
    To change rotation: Edit the value in Property Tab or use the Rotation Gizmo.

  • Scale : Scale of the transform relative to the parent along X, Y, and Z axes. Value 1 is the original size.
    To change scale: Edit the value in Property Tab or use the Scale Gizmo.

  • Hierarchy : Hierarchy of the current transform. (Hierarchy displays in Scene Hierarchy Tab)
    To change hierarchy:

    • Dragging Transform A to Transform B in Hierarchy Tab will change Transform A 's parent to Transform B
    • Dragging Transform A to empty area in Hierarchy Tab will move Transform A to the root of current scene
